Bridge Day™ Rappel Selection Process:
Thank you for your interest in rappelling off the New River Gorge Bridge this year on Bridge Day™, Saturday, October 18, 2008. This letter outlines the application and selection process that will determine who will participate in the 2008 Bridge Day™ Rappel.
The 2008 Bridge Day™ Rappel will:
- Consist of twenty-two (22) teams of from twelve to fourteen participants who will be allowed to ascend and/or descend a fixed rope from the catwalk beneath the Bridge. The first anchor will be used for the raising/lowering of our colors.
- The deadline for applications is Friday, June 6.
- The lottery drawing will be Friday, June 20. You do not have to be present to be selected to participate in the Bridge Day™ Rappel.
- The deadline for any substitutions and/or changes to those teams selected for the Bridge Day™ Rappel will be Monday, August 25.
- Bridge Day™ Rappel registration will be from noon until 6 PM on Friday, October 17, at Passages To Adventure.
- There will be an organization meeting at Passages To Adventure which everyone must attend on Friday, October 17 at 6:30 PM. No attendance means no rappel!
You must do the following if you wish to enter the lottery:
- Identify a group leader who will be responsible for disseminating information to the group members. The team must have at least twelve members.
- Return a completed application for each member.
- Submit a JPEG or TIFF photo (“head shot”) for each member with his/her application. The group leader can submit a CD with all of the team's individual photos. Names and photos should be easily identified.
- Enclose a non-refundable $129 per application.
- Enclose a non-refundable $150 team fee.
There will be a high line on Bridge Day 2008.
If Bridge Day 2008 is cancelled for any reason, there will be NO refund or credit extended. Please call or write if you have any questions or concerns. Thanks again for your interest.
