Rescue Procedure:
The procedure described below will be used for all rescues and emergencies. In the event an emergency does occur, please contact your Safety Officer immediately. He/She will contact the head Safety Officer Bruce Smith and assist in coordinating the rescue operation. If you cannot locate your Team's Safety Officer please notify the Safety Officer nearest your rappelling station. The Safety Officer will take control of your radio so as to provide communication with personnel at the bottom of the rope. Please do NOT attempt any form of self-rescue. The Safety Team is highly experienced in this type of rescue operation. Safety and speed are critical issues in an operation of this nature - so please let the Safety Team do their job. Please do NOT attempt to do a 'change over' on the rope and ascend if you are stuck or in an emergency situation. This is an extremely dangerous procedure. With the rescue system already in place this type of maneuver would constitute an unnecessary risk. Rescue Procedure: The Rescue Team will arrive at your station with a pre-rigged mechanical advantage and 1000' of rope. The rescue rope will be connected to the existing rope and the rappeller lowered to the ground. Please do not interfere with this process and let the Rescue Team do their job.
